All-natural flea medications
About a week ago, my beloved pooch Samson started scratching like a madman, and I knew flea season had begun. This is the first year I have had to endure this with Samson, and I am looking for an all-natural flea and pest control that I can administer to him. I want to use an all-natural, no pesticide flea medication because 1. I don't want to subject him or me to anything poisonous like frontline or advantage simply because I like to live and be healthy and I think I can safely assume he does too, and 2. When I touch pesticid-ic (sp?, even a word) flea medications on pets or furniture or ANYTHING and then even THINK about touching my face, I immediately break out in hives and my eyes started bulging out of my head. Not a pretty sight.
So I have been looking online a little bit at my options and I found this stuff on a website called the "Only Natural Petstore". They have this stuff that comes in a powder that can be described as:
"Only Natural Pet All-in-One Flea Remedy is an odorless powder that can be applied directly to the fur of a dog or cat and sprinkled on your carpet, hardwood floors, baseboards, furniture, and pet bedding. You can even sprinkle it in your lawn or garden where your pets roam. Its primary ingredient is diatomaceous earth, a natural flea treatment that has been used for hundreds of years. As soon as fleas come into contact with it they become dehydrated and die. It's that simple! And fleas cannot build up an immunity to it because it works mechanically, not chemically."
Some people commented that this product is not good for people with allergies or asthma, which I have both of, so I don't know if I should buy it or not. I just wanted to know if anyone else had any suggestions about this, if any of you use a natural flea medication for your pet, could you recommend anything else before I buy this stuff? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Post a Commentwe used to always - year round, feed our dogs and cats brewer's yeast and garlic and even though we lived in the south , flea central , they never really got fleas , i mean there was an occasional one but they were never infested
Alright, thanks for the advise. I live in the south too and I think that the heat right now is just making those little bastards flourish like nobody's business!!

My Manwich!!!
I think this is the same stuff I bought several years ago, it did work!
I'm also allergic to pesticide (I even get hives from bug-spray), and I avoid pesticide at all costs because it causes cancer and many other issues!!
Good for you for seeking out an alternative!
My friends cat had a seizure and died after using advantage
Good luck with your doggers!
One thing I do when I take my dog camping is to tie a bandana around his neck that has been treated with natural chemical-free citronella bug deterent (it's sold at camp stores as a deet alternative). I don't put too much on because it can be an irritant, but even having a bit on the bandana has worked for my dog, even when we take him to the sandy beach. I've taken him camping and to the beach for the last 3 years and he's never gotten fleas
Cool, thanks so much for your advise, I'm sorry about your friend's cat, that's terrible!!
