The Necklace
**Sorry to drag this old thing out again, but I had to go back and make this public so that I could demonstrate a point in another post.**
So I was able to take some pictures of the necklace I was talking about in Sticky's blog last week this weekend. It belongs to my mother-in-law, and I wore it as my "something blue" on my wedding day. The necklace has 55 of what looks like to me maybe 3/4 or 1 full caret each blue sapphires. The sapphires are separated by two maybe 1/8 caret diamond clusters around each sapphire, totalling around 108 diamonds. Needless to say, this thing is absolutely GORGEOUS, and these pictures do it no justice. It just sparkles in person so much more than in these pictures.
Enjoy!
Please disregard the disgusting lawn chair it is sitting on.

Post a CommentVery pretty! Sapphire is my birthstone and I think it is the prettiest of gems (right after amethyst and emerald).

wow... gorgeous!
Absolutely beautiful!!
shit, how does someone outside the royal family come to acquire something like that? where do you wear it other than your wedding or maybe opening night for opera? beautiful
I love sapphires - gorgeous necklace.
I have no idea Val, but this woman has ALL kinds of jewelry like this. I guess she wears it to church because I don't really know that she goes anywhere else except maybe to the grocery store or the mall.
And I thought MY mom was reincarnated from a crow! I used to work at Fred Meyer (think fancy Target), and once a year they'd have a jewelry show that had stuff like this. Armed guards, the works. They had a choker similar to this, but with heart shaped stones. They let me try it on, but I didn't have the $52,000 to buy it.
I told Matt to implant the idea in her head that she should will it to me. She would let me wear it any time I wanted, but I never go anywhere fancy enough to feel comfortable wearing soemthing like this.
God, I thought this was a cake at first!
That is stunning!
It is beautiful!! blue saphires always make me think of a Princess

You've got a very generous mother-in-law. The only thing my MIL
